Toshiba and SoTel Systems certify interoperability
Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division and SoTel Systems LLC announced the certification of interoperability of SoTel SIP Trunking services with Toshiba’s family of Strata CIX IP business communication systems.  SoTel SIP Trunking services are now available nationwide from Authorized Toshiba Dealers. GENBAND selected to acquire Nortel’s CVAS assets
GENBAND, Inc. announced that it will acquire substantially all assets of the Nortel Carrier VoIP and Application Solutions Business (CVAS). The acquisition is subject to court and certain regulatory approvals in Canada, the United States and other jurisdictions, as well as other closing conditions. The acquisition will combine GENBAND’s next-generation media, session and security gateway technologies and Nortel’s softswitch, media gateway and application technologies, offering service providers a best-in-class, end-to-end switching and global services portfolio. Once the transaction is approved by the courts and closed, GENBAND will have enhanced its research and development, sales and support operations spanning the globe. The company will have products deployed with over two-thirds of the world’s top 100 service providers and will cover broad markets including fixed, mobile, cable and broadband operators. GENBAND will continue its commitment to existing business partnerships with plans to expand product, service and support relationships following the close of the Nortel CVAS transaction.

Primas solutions now rated “Avaya compliant”
Primas announced that LinkSCOPE Server is compliant with key Contact Center Solutions from Avaya.  The Primas LinkSCOPE Server, which includes its ScreenPOP and First Call Resolution Solutions, helps businesses utilize CTI data in real-time for business process improvement and is now compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya Aura Application Enablement Services. This latest version of LinkSCOPE provides an expanded suite of applications made possible by an open database of CTI data. Primas is a member of the Avaya DevConnect program—an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company’s investment in its network.  As a Gold member of the program, Primas is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab, where a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant.

eTelemetry forms distribution agreement with Jenne Distributors
eTelemetry announced its strategic partnership with Jenne Distributors, Inc. Enterprise voice market makes a solid finish in 2009
Synergy Research Group announces the publication of Q4 2009 and YE 2009 market shares. The worldwide market for Enterprise Voice totaled just under $10 billion for full year 2009. Year over year, the market fell over 25 percent; however the second half of 2009 showed solid improvement across all voice segments with network upgrades providing positive momentum. IP Telephony (IPT) continues to be the fastest growing segment of the Enterprise Voice market -- which includes IP-only and Converged IP/TDM PBX phone systems and IP Phones. In 2009, IPT represented nearly 70 percent of the total Telephony market, with the remainder comprised of the legacy markets of PBXs and KTS. "In looking at different regions, we see the advantages of regional strength come in to play. For example, in the U.S. the top gainers were Cisco, Avaya, Siemens, and ShoreTel," said Jeremy Duke, Principal Analyst and Founder, Synergy Research Group. "In comparison, the top market share gainers in EMEA were Alcatel-Lucent, Avaya, Siemens, Aastra, and Mitel." Another interesting area includes the growing market of IP Phones. Although Cisco is the lion-share holder of the market, it continues to see its share under attack. In 2009, Cisco lost nearly 2 market share points to the competition. The biggest market share gainers for IP phones in 2009 included Polycom, Alcatel-Lucent, and Avaya.

Sunova Credit Union selects Mitel unified communications solution
Mitel announced that Sunova Credit Union has selected Mitel as the partner of choice to provide business applications to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their business. Samsung BCS reaches distribution agreement with Optus, Inc.
Samsung Business Communication Systems (BCS) announced a distribution agreement with Optus, Inc., a national supplier of new and refurbished voice, video and data business communications parts, solutions and services. As part of the agreement, Optus, Inc.’s national reseller base can now offer its small-to-midsized business (SMB) customers Samsung OfficeServ 7000 Series converged systems. Samsung’s affordable, feature-rich OfficeServ solutions allow for seamless integration of voice and data and offer the functionality of big-business-level systems. Through its central U.S. distribution center, Optus supports value-added resellers (VARs) with dedicated account management, pre-sales engineering and post-sales support from its team of technical experts.

Agito's latest release promises business VoIP calls over 3G
Agito debuted Agito Global Enterprise, a new package of unified communications products that includes version 4.0 of Agito's flagship RoamAnywhere Mobility Router. The new version supports enterprise VoIP calls over 3G cellular networks, according to Agito. Anyone using an Agito-supported 3G mobile device, that is, can make VoIP calls over cellular data connections and bypass international roaming rates.  Agito is compatible with Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch, Nokia's E72 and a number of Research In Motion BlackBerry handsets, including BlackBerry Tour, BlackBerry Curve and BlackBerry Bold 9700. "We're trying to focus on the cost savings, above all," said Pejman Rothan, Agito's co-founder and chief marketing officer. "This is the first enterprise solution for voice-over-3G, which is a phenomenal tool for travelers because they can bypass the roaming rates overseas. And it works with pretty much any PBX you can think of."

Voxbone introduces SMS support for iNum
Voxbone has begun supporting short messaging service (SMS) to its iNum numbers – phone numbers with the “area code for Earth.” With this addition, Voxbone’s carrier and enterprise customers can offer their subscribers one global number that can receive SMS messages at competitive rates. The move marks a breakthrough in iNum usage, as wireless subscribers from a growing number of prominent carriers – including Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, Virgin, and Boost Mobile – now are able to text these numbers. The service is already available in the United Kingdom, France and the United States, at prices ranging from 10 to 20 pence per message in the U.K., for example. Voxbone will be adding reachability from more wireless carriers in more countries.
