The Z-Mount LC is designed to be used in server cabinets and comes standard with 12 duplex, ganged LC ports, which are available left or right facing and feature shuttered adapters for optimum dust control and safety. The bracket is engineered for precision mating that far exceeds industry dB loss performance standards.

HP also announced new integrated solutions that help businesses and governments create their own Instant-On Enterprise. HP’s new foundational set of integrated solutions – based on the company’s broad portfolio of hardware, software, services and intellectual property – offers businesses and governments the tools they need to modernize, transform, secure, optimize and deliver the Instant-On Enterprise:

IBM

IT professionals predict mobile and cloud technologies will dominate enterprise computing by 2015
Information technology professionals predict that mobile and cloud computing will emerge as the most in-demand platforms for software application development and IT delivery over the next five years, according to a new IBM survey. The 2010 IBM Tech Trends Survey, conducted online by IBM developerWorks, provides insight into the most significant enterprise technology and industry trends based on responses from 2,000 IT developers and specialists across 87 countries. According to the survey, more than half of all IT professionals – 55 percent — expect mobile software application development for devices such as iPhone and Android, and even tablet PCs like iPad and PlayBook, will surpass application development on all other traditional computing platforms by 2015. With the proliferation of these mobile devices, industry analysts are predicting mobile applications sales will undergo massive growth over the next three years, with estimates of mobile application revenues expanding from $6.2 billion this year to nearly $30 billion by 2013. Supporting the growing number of software developers creating new applications for mobile devices, IBM now offers no-cost mobile computing technology resources, through IBM developerWorks, for application development on mobile platforms such as iPhone, iPad, HTML5 and Android. IBM also launched the first developerWorks mobile application for the Apple iPhone, providing developers around the world with mobile access to build skills and network with colleagues using the professional social networking platform, My developerWorks, built on IBM Lotus Connections.

Growth of $27 billion US business spending on wireless data slows, says In-Stat
Growth in wireless data spending by US businesses will slow, moving down from an annual growth rate of 5.2% during 2009-2010 to 2.5% during 2013-2014, according to market research firm In-Stat.   Overall, In-Stat expects US businesses to spend close to $27 billion on wireless data in 2010. Some additional data points include:

  • Wireless handset spending by US businesses will decline from $4.5 to $3.2 billion from 2010 to 2014 with the largest decline coming in the utility and manufacturing vertical segments at 10,000+ size of business.

  • US business spending on wireless voice will grow a modest $600 million from 2010 to 2014 with the 500-999 and 1,000-4,999 size-of-business markets showing only a slightly higher increase than the overall market.

Security

IBM takes action to improve cloud security
IBM has unveiled a new security initiative focused on making cloud computing safer. IBM aims to help both users and providers of cloud computing more easily navigate security challenges through new cloud security planning and assessment services, managed services to help clients secure their clouds, and the introduction of several technology innovations from its global research labs. While an information technology foundation pertains to all cloud computing, providers and users do not generally rely on one generic model for data security. Both cloud providers and users should consider a variety of factors, including the kind of work a client wants to do in the cloud and the mechanisms and controls used. To help meet these specific needs, IBM's cloud security experts work closely with clients to address their individual concerns and provide the appropriate services and offerings. This process includes evaluations of the security positioning of planned or existing cloud implementations as well as recommendations for various security strategies. Additionally, IBM has a team of security professionals around the world and holds a number of security and risk management patents, which can be used to help clients solve their toughest cloud problems. As the cloud computing model evolves with the changing needs of a client's business, IBM researchers are designing new technologies to ensure the integrity of data in the cloud regardless of the business or industry scenario.

Agilent Technologies introduces powerful handheld digital multimeters
Agilent Technologies Inc. announced the U1270 Series handheld digital multimeters (DMMs), setting new levels of performance in industrial handheld DMMs. This series offers a wide range of measurement capabilities; including feature sets that are found only in higher end industrial handheld DMMs. The U1270 Series allows engineers and technicians to make faster, more accurate measurements. The new DMMs include capabilities such as low impedance mode to eliminate stray voltages, and low-pass filtering to remove noise that distorts voltage and current readings. The new Smart Ohm function helps ensure confidence in results by minimizing false readings due to leakage current. To enhance usability, the DMMs have a slim, easy-to-grip profile and controls that are easy to operate, even when wearing heavy gloves. The U1270 Series are the world’s first DMMs to feature a flashing backlight as visual alert to enhance continuity checks in dark, noisy environments.
