CTI launches Proteus
Communications Management
CTI Group, a global provider of online billing, self-care
and communications management solutions, announces the official U.S. launch
of Proteus Enterprise, the first truly integrated communica-tions management
solution to offer wireline, cell phone, Internet and e-mail usage and cost
analysis to medium and large businesses. The solution allows companies to
monitor and analyze communications resources throughout their global
offices. With Proteus Enterprise,
managers have easy access to essential individual and integrated reports
which provide the necessary knowledge for increasing the performance and cost
effectiveness of their communications systems. Four integrated systems
monitor wireline and cellular telephony, e-mail and Internet. Each system
works by analyzing the log files produced by the PBX, Internet gateway,
e-mail server and electronic cell phone bill. The information is then
collated into parameter driven reports and graphs that can be viewed from
anywhere in the company’s network via a Web browser. Proteus is offered as a
license sale or ASP Managed Service solution.

Extreme UltraViolet
Lithography – Breaking the Chip Speed Barrier
EUVL technology may break "Moore's Law" where
computing power will double every 18 months. EUVL chips may exceed 400
million transistors about 10 times the Pentium4 with 42 million as well as 10
GHz - gigahertz clock speeds. Details:
EUVL gives chip designers the ability to carve silicon with smaller and
smaller lasers, thereby increasing the number of chips. By using concave
mirrors in a vacuum (potential application for manufacturing in space), EUVL
designers can design new and much smaller chips for applications like medical
diagnostics and repair, embedded systems and remote sensing. Here’s how it
works:
1 - Laser is focused on a jet of xenon gas creating plasma which emits a glow
of extreme ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 13 nanometers - 1/30 the
wavelength of violet visible light.
2 - Optical condensers focus the light toward the circuit "Chip
Mask" - a detailed image of the tran-sistors and other devices being
created-etched.
3 - The image of the integrated circuit reflects off the chip mask on a
series of four-to-six concave mirrors that reduce or sharpen the image of the
chip mask and the project the image onto the silicon wafer coated with
light-sensitive material called resist.
4 - The light images the circuit and a chemical solvent removes unetched
material.

Looking for a special gift? Visit the NATD Charity page,
and honor someone with a gift in his or her name.
About NATD Charities
NATD Charities are selected as organizations that have had
a big impact on the lives of our members. We begin with a “cornerstone”
donation of $5,000 to a not-for-profit (501-C) charity in the community of
the NATD member that was provided assistance. While we believe in and
support many fine charities at the national level, we realize that our
members are being assisted by volunteers and in facilities.... locally. NATD Charities puts the emphasis where it
helps our member the most...right in the hands of the local assistance
provider, the 501C organization that directly helped our member.
Help Us Select Our Next Cause
NATD members may send Nominations for the $5,000 award to
the Executive Secretary of the NATD, Ms. Ruth Marion. Funding for this
award will be solely from funds received from the annual NATD Charity Golf
Tournament, held during the Winter NATD membership meeting.
Funding for other projects and issues will be as solicitation
permits, depending on the issues. Other than emergency issues, fund
disbursement from NATD Charity general funds, will be as directed by the
membership in the General Meetings.
