Interwise sees
opportunity for IP-based conferencing as
core enterprise business application Interwise Inc., a global leader in unlimited voice, Web
and video conferencing for the enterprise, announced it is entering a new
phase of company growth driven by sales of IP-based conferencing software as
a core business application for enterprises. The new market opportunity is
emerging as a result of traditional voice, Web and video conferencing
technologies consolidating within corporate networks; it is being driven by
enterprise demand for collaborative technologies that will alleviate the
challenges of connecting distributed and mobile workforces, customers and
supply chains. This year, Interwise is already seeing more than 50% of its
new business come from customers intending to deploy conferencing widely as a
core enterprise business application. According to IDC, the combined market for Web conferencing
and voice conferencing is about $7.7 billion, with voice conferencing
comprising about 90% of the total today. Although both markets have grown
based on per-minute conferencing service offerings, it is becoming harder for
customers to accept the exorbitant charges, limited security and multiple
overlapping products that these offerings bring with them. Furthermore, the
departmental-level selling of legacy conferencing services has made it
difficult for enterprises to control, or even know, their total conferencing
costs. As a result, many companies have now started centralizing their
conferencing purchases to consolidate vendors and products, standardize capabilities
for their employees and negotiate lower fees. Visit www.interwise.com. Carrier Access enables VoIP today Carrier Access' Business Access technologies address the
need to deliver converged voice, data and video services over circuit- and
packet-based networks as well as ease the migration to IP. The Adit Platform
is designed to lower the cost and complexity of delivering these services
while leveraging existing network infrastructures. Our Adit products support both voice and data services to ease
the migration from circuit- to packet-based infrastructures. Internet
Protocol (IP) provides the foundation for this convergence due to its
efficiency, flexibility, scalability and cost-effectiveness. Security is also
a vital capability to keep traffic flowing smoothly while protecting against
intrusions and attacks. The Adit 3104 SIP Business Gateway addresses these
issues head-on with a platform that offers routing with Quality of Service
(QoS), an integrated stateful firewall, scalable voice gateway capabilities,
and simplified remote management designed for service provider deployment
models. In just one platform, the Adit 3104 offers speed, security, and voice
for: Secure Internet and IP access with fast processing stateful firewall
LAN-to-LAN connectivity over private and public networks. The new Adit 3500
SIP to PRI Trunk Gateway replaces multiple devices and network elements at
the customer premises that typically provide routing, security, and trunk
gateway functions - offering a powerful combination of speed, security, data
and voice. Visit http://www.carrieraccess.com/promo/voip/. Return to top

Mitel
Mitel
partners with Maxim Networx to deliver results Mitel made an important house call when a large medical
health organization with 22 locations in and around New York City needed it
the most. The contract is valued at $2.4 million. Queens Long Island Medical
Group (QLIMG) said it had selected another vendor's system six months before
asking Mitel to step in and use its expertise to give the thriving company
reliable, resilient IP communi-cations to better serve its patients, improve
employee morale and contribute to a much healthier bottom line. Mitel
installed its embedded standard unified messaging, auto-attendant, Automatic Call
Distribution (ACD) and in-building wireless from SpectraLink along with
Mitel's flagship 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP) in QLIMG's medical
centers as well as supplying the company with 1,500 IP phones, all of which
contributed to help solve a very particular problem. Channel
partner John Hawat of Maxim Networx facilitated the quick transition after
receiving a distress call from QLIMG. "They have very specific needs
that I was sure couldn't be fulfilled by their former provider," he
said. "So we were still ready and able to come in and help this very
busy company serve its patients with innovative Mitel products and
solutions." Visit www.mitel.com.

Nortel
School district
achieves efficiencies with VoIP solution from Nortel and Quintum Deer Valley Unified School District (DVUSD) in Phoenix,
Arizona, has deployed Nortel’s CS 1000, along with Tenor VoIP switches from
Quintum Technologies, enabling realization of significant advantages offered
by VoIP service as compared to their traditional phone system. DVUSD deployed
Nortel’s Communication Server 1000 system to provide IP phone support
throughout the entire district. The Nortel CS 1000 provides significant
advantages, including shared data and voice network resources and centralized
administration and management. With a single CS 1000 system, VoIP service is
provided to all facilities throughout the district. One of DVUSD’s
requirements in transitioning to VoIP was integration of a variety of analog
systems into their new VoIP-based network. Quintum Tenor switches have earned
the Nortel Compatible Product designation through interoperability testing
with Nortel’s CS 1000. The Tenor VoIP switches provide branch office support
for legacy analog systems and local connectivity to the public telephone
network. Tenor VoIP switches were deployed in all remote locations to support
fax machines, analog phones, and modem-based devices, such as postage meters
requiring funds transactions by modem, security alarm systems access, and
control of irrigation timing and support systems. All these analog devices
and services continue to be supported on the new VoIP network. Visit www.nortel.com or www.quintum.com. Siemens
HiPath BizIP makes VoIP
easy and affordable for small and home businesses Siemens Communications Inc. announced its HiPath BizIP
offering, a new peer-to-peer tech-nology that supports innovative and
affordable VoIP communications for small offices and home offices without the
need for a complex business telephone system. With the Siemens HiPath BizIP
solution, switching intelligence is handled by IP telephones linked via a
local area network (LAN) infrastructure, without the need for a separate PBX.
Communication with public voice and broad-band data networks is handled by
the BizIP Access Device, which helps ensure that a service provider's VoIP
phone numbers can be used for Internet telephony, ISDN lines or both. The
HiPath BizIP solution is pre-packaged to interoperate with low-cost session
initiation protocol (SIP) services offered by operators. In addition, analog
phones, fax machines and door intercoms can still be connected. Visit www.usa.siemens.com/communications. Return to top
