Avaya
Avaya unified communications application goes "Lite"
Avaya announced that a "Lite" version of the leading enterprise mobility client application is now available through the Apple App Store. Avaya one-X Mobile Lite joins its sister application as Avaya's second unified communications application for enterprises that business users can download for their iPhones. The fully-featured Avaya one-X Mobile is already the world's leading enterprise fixed mobile communications (FMC) client with 43 percent of the market, according to Frost and Sullivan. Both Avaya one-X Mobile and the recently released "Lite" version enable the iPhone to become an enterprise communications device by making it possible for mobile workers to receive business calls anywhere, anytime, improving their productivity and reducing costs to the business.
Avaya one-X Mobile Lite has a look and feel that is similar to the existing Avaya one-X Mobile for iPhone, albeit with a subset of key features and no need for additional servers or licenses.

IDC sees modest IT spending growth, industry transformation in 2010
According to a new report by market research firm IDC, two themes will dominate events in the IT and telecommunications markets in 2010: recovery and transformation. With a global economic recovery widely anticipated, modest growth in IT and telecommunications spending is expected. In terms of the recovery, IDC predicts that worldwide IT spending will grow by 3.2% in 2010, returning the industry to 2008 spending levels of about $1.5 trillion. According to IDC, emerging markets will drive more than half the new IT industry growth in 2010, with IT spending up 8-13% in the BRIC countries of Brazil, Russia, India, and China. Telecommunications spending will experience respectable growth of 3%, driven by a rebound in the IP and data segments in mature markets and strong growth in the mobility sector in emerging economies. IDC believes that transformation will impact every corner of the industry in 2010, including cloud services, mobile devices and mobile applications, video applications and more; all will put greater demands on public networks in 2010. IDC expects industry players will accelerate their migration toward converged IP platforms, expand their managed services footprints, and transform their service delivery platforms and business models to support the growing wholesale, connected devices, and machine-to-machine (M2M) opportunities.

Business VoIP boosts carrier IP telephony market in second quarter of 2009
A recent report published by Dell’Oro Group indicates that the carrier IP telephony market rose 7 percent sequentially in the second quarter of 2009, to $737 million, as service providers replenished equipment and license inventories and purchased infrastructure to serve near-term customer needs. According to the report, several smaller market players with limited exposure to large network upgrade projects, such as AudioCodes, MetaSwitch, and Veraz, gained share in the second quarter. Nortel regained the top market position during the quarter; however, some of its larger competitors, such as Huawei and Nokia Siemens, that have a relatively high degree of exposure to large network modernization projects, lost share.
