Avaya adds Nortel technology to contact center software
Avaya is overhauling its contact center software with features designed to boost productivity and also to demonstrate that the company is brimming with innovation it hopes will attract new customers, and keep those it acquired along with Nortel's enterprise division. The big new offering is Avaya Aura Contact Center that mixes Nortel Contact Center features with Avaya's main SIP communications server Avaya Aura. The result is a SIP-based contact center designed to let call agents find out how the customer is connected, phone, instant messaging, SMS, email and so on, and the customer's history with the contact center. An upgrade to Avaya IQ contact-center analytics software adds full reporting capabilities that until now were exclusively in Avaya's Call Management System. Before, customers that wanted both analytics and reporting had to buy both products. Avaya has also added interactive voice response capabilities from Nortel into its Voice Portal and renamed the product Experience Portal.

Cisco delivers hosted collaboration
Cisco announced the availability of the Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution, an offering that allows partners to provide a wide range of Cisco collaboration applications to their customers, via the cloud, using an “as a service” model. The solution gives partners, including service providers and integrators, the ability to deploy multiple collaboration applications on one server in a virtualized environment and then host those applications for multiple client organizations. It is designed to be run from partner data centers. The Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution is optimized for delivery by the Cisco Unified Computing System, part of the Cisco Unified Service Delivery solution. Cisco Unified Service Delivery combines the power of the datacenter with the power of the network to transform service delivery and build the foundation for cloud services. Partners can purchase the Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution from Cisco and then license use of the applications within that solution to multiple customers through a subscription-based service.

Mitel and Telstra expand partnership to deliver Mitel portfolio to customers
Mitel announced it has signed a direct partnership agreement with Telstra, Australia’s leading telecommunications and information services company. Mitel will expand its longstanding relationship with Telstra and provide its customers with access to Mitel’s portfolio of scalable unified communication solutions, including its line of software, applications and hardware offerings. As Mitel’s first Premiere Solution Provider in Australia, Telstra is now able to bundle Mitel offerings to customers via both direct and indirect channel options. Since the partnership was first established in 2006, Mitel and Telstra have previously offered Mitel’s voice solutions, which include the Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP), a highly scalable and easy-to-use voice communications IP-PBX platform, and its complementary suite of applications. With this new partnership capability Mitel and Telstra are now poised to offer businesses expanded capabilities for their communication needs.

Cory Communications hires telecom industry veteran Joseph W. Ragone
Cory Communications announces the addition of Joseph W. Ragone as Senior Sales Executive, effective July 6.  In this role, Mr. Ragone will oversee new customer acquisition and business development, with a focus on the SMB market and expanding Cory’s medical, legal and banking sectors. Prior to joining Cory Communications, Mr. Ragone owned Trinity Companies, a commercial contractor specializing in voice and data installations.  Earlier in his career he was a partner in Telecorp, a Woodbury, N.J.-based vendor and installer of voice and data services, and branch manager of Atlantic Lucent Technologies (formally AT&T) in King of Prussia, Pa.  Mr. Ragone resides in Sewell, N.J., with his wife and three children. Founded in 2001 by industry veteran Jack Zoblin, Cory Communications works with business clients to address virtually all of their telecommunications needs.
