Avaya added as AGMA member
The Alliance for Gray Market and Counterfeit Abatement (AGMA) announced that it has officially added Avaya Inc. to its member roster. AGMA is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing gray market, counterfeiting and warranty and service abuse of branded goods around the globe. Avaya’s membership in the alliance is part of the company’s broader effort to stem software piracy and protect customers who inadvertently enter into relationships with unauthorized maintenance providers. Safeguarding intellectual property — including software patches and updates — is critical for the health of business systems. In order to reinforce its commitment to protecting customers, Avaya is implementing intellectual property audits of customers on a global scale, and making investments in product architecture to implement a “lock and key” licensing technology that further protects intellectual property.

NACR named Vendor of the Year by Avaya PDS User Group
Communications expert NACR (North American Communications Resource, Inc.) has been named Vendor of the Year by the Avaya Predictive Dialer System (PDS) User Group. Mountain West Telecom achieves highest level of Avaya services certification
Mountain West Telecom announced it has achieved Services Expert Certification from Avaya. The Services Expert certification means Mountain West Telecom has demonstrated the skills and qualifications needed to proficiently deliver the full range of implementation and communications support services to Avaya customers. Under the Services Expert program, Mountain West Telecom achieved the Support Specialist and Integration Expert designations, the highest level of Avaya services certification. Aretta creates white-label partner program

SIP Forum's SIPit 27 slated for Taipei in November
The SIP Forum has announced that its next SIP Interoperability Testing event, SIPit 27, will be held November 15-19, 2010 in Taipei, Taiwan.  The international event, hosted by The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), is open for registration to any equipment vendor, developer, carrier or other company dealing with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) implementations. At SIPit 27, participating companies will test a variety of SIP-based applications and implementations in assorted network environments and topologies. The upcoming Fall event expects to focus particular attention on SIP security, including preventing exploit attacks, securing media in secure real-time transport protocol (SRTP), and maintaining interoperability while exercising advanced real-time media sessions such as those utilizing High Definition video. In addition, groups are expected to continue their work related to IP peering and SIP trunking interoperability.
