ASCDI/NATD Japan Relief Fund
The Association of Service and Computers Dealers Charity Foundation and the North American Association of Telecommunications Dealers Charity Foundation are raising money to help in relief efforts in Japan.  The ASCDI and NATD have members throughout the world, including Japan.  We are in communication with our Japanese Members and with their help, will choose appropriate recipient(s) for the funds.

The ASCDI and NATD are calling upon our members, the members of the ASCDI and NATD Trading Networks (ATN & NTTN) and all technology resellers worldwide to join us in this effort.

Tech vendors indicted for selling laptops to Iran

Three men running technology vendor businesses were indicted for selling millions of dollars worth of laptops to Iran. The unsealed U.S. Department of Justice complaint says three defendants, Jeng Shih, of New York City, Massoud Habibion and Mohsen Motamedian, were all indicted for violations related to exporting laptop computers to Iran without a license.  Shih ran a company called Sunrise Technology and Trading, while Habibion and Motamedian ran one called Online Micro. Both companies sent millions of dollars worth of laptops to a company in the United Arab Emirates (identified only as "company X" that transshipped the computers to Iran. Shi is charged with 27 counts relating to the illegal export of computer-related equipment to Iran without a license from the Department of the Treasury. The indictment charges Shih and his company with one count of conspiracy; 13 counts of violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA); 13 counts of making or causing to be made false statements to the United States; and one allegation for forfeiture of property and profits derived from the offenses. Habibion, Motamedian and Online Micro LLC are charged with 14 counts of violating IEEPA, 14 counts of making or causing false statements to the United States and four counts of obstruction of justice. Motamedian is charged with one count of conspiracy, 14 counts of violating IEEPA, 14 counts of making or causing false statements to the United States and one count of obstruction of justice.

RIM Mobile Voice System 5 for Avaya, legacy Nortel
Research In Motion (RIM) announced plans to make BlackBerry Mobile Voice System 5 (BlackBerry MVS 5) available to more corporate phone systems and unified communications applications. BlackBerry MVS 5 with voice over Wi-Fi calling will soon be available for Avaya Aura 6.1, Avaya CS1000 Communication Server, as well as legacy phone systems such as Avaya Communications Manager and Nortel Communication Server. It is also currently available for Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Call Manager Express and Mitel Communications Director. BlackBerry MVS 5 has also been re-architected to be more extensible with third party applications and phone systems. BlackBerry MVS unifies corporate phone systems with wireless communications allowing employees to cost effectively make and take desk phone calls practically anywhere in the world on their BlackBerry smartphones. BlackBerry MVS 5 supports calls over cellular or Wi-Fi networks with automatic, prompted or manual handoff between these networks based on employee or administrator preferences.

City of Pensacola selects CallRex Call Recording software
